BEP Marine 717 Twin Engine Battery Distribution Cluster

Description

The BEP Marine 717 battery distribution cluster is designed specifically for twin-outboard installations using three battery banks. It manages charging between the port starting battery, starboard starting battery, and house bank so both engines can contribute charging current to the house system while maintaining the separation needed for dependable engine starting.

When the port voltage-sensitive relay engages, the port engine can charge both the port starting battery and the house battery. The starboard side operates the same way, allowing the starboard engine to charge its starting battery and the house bank. When both engines are running, the house battery can receive charging from both alternators until the voltage regulators on the engines control the charging process.

The system also allows the house battery to continue receiving charge while the boat is operating on only one engine, which is useful on twin-engine vessels that may intentionally run a single engine for economy or need to continue operating after an engine issue. By combining the switching and voltage-sensitive charging components into one purpose-built cluster, BEP simplifies the wiring and operating logic of a twin-engine, three-bank battery system.
