Xantrex C-Series 40-Amp Solar Charge Controller

Description

The Xantrex C-Series C40 is a 40A solid-state controller that can be configured for photovoltaic charging, DC load control, or diversion control. It supports field-configurable 12V, 24V, and 48V systems, making it especially flexible for boats, cabins, off-grid installations, and renewable-energy systems that may use different battery-bank voltages.

In charging mode, PWM multi-stage charging helps manage battery recovery and maintenance, with optional temperature compensation available for improved charging accuracy as battery temperature changes. The controller can also be reassigned to diversion or load-control duties, allowing the same platform to serve different roles as a system evolves.

Microprocessor control provides silent operation and allows field-adjustable voltage and battery set points. Electronic protection covers short-circuit, overload, and over-temperature conditions, while conformal-coated circuit boards and a powder-coated enclosure help the electronics tolerate harsher environments.

The controller is compatible with negative-ground and ungrounded systems and automatically disconnects from the battery at night when used for solar charging. An optional remote display can provide additional operating information and cumulative amp-hour data.
