Grabbing a mooring buoy or pennant from the deck of a moving boat is one of those maneuvers that looks simple and rarely goes smoothly, especially single-handed or in any real chop. This Wichard Automatic Mooring Hook takes a good chunk of that difficulty out of the equation, closing automatically the instant it makes contact with a ring or line rather than requiring a second hand to trigger it manually.

It’s designed to mount on most boat hooks already on the market, so you’re not committing to a whole new pole just to get the automatic-closing benefit, and it’s well suited to mooring specifically rather than being a general-purpose hook stretched to fit the job.

Built from 316L stainless steel, the same grade Wichard uses across its marine hardware line for real strength alongside long-term corrosion resistance. At 170mm (6-11/16 inches) long, with a 30mm A-dimension, 20mm B-dimension, and a 12mm diameter opening, it’s sized to actually grab and hold a standard mooring ring or pennant loop rather than fumbling with something too narrow or too wide.
