Description

The Victron SmartSolar MPPT charge controller is designed to harvest more usable energy from a solar array by continuously tracking the panels’ maximum power point as sunlight changes. Its ultra-fast MPPT technology is especially valuable during partial cloud cover, when panel voltage and current can shift rapidly and a slower controller may leave available charging energy unused.

Built-in Bluetooth provides wireless setup, monitoring, firmware updates, and synchronization through the VictronConnect app. A VE.Direct port also supports wired communication with compatible GX products, computers, and other Victron monitoring equipment. The programmable charging algorithm gives installers control over battery charging behavior, while an internal temperature sensor compensates absorption and float voltage as controller temperature changes.

Victron’s BatteryLife logic can protect a battery from chronic partial charging by adjusting the load-disconnect threshold when the solar array has not been able to return the battery to a full state of charge. The load output is short-circuit protected and can disconnect connected loads at a preset low-battery threshold. Optional Smart Battery Sense or compatible Victron battery monitors can provide external battery-voltage and temperature data over Bluetooth.
