Description

The Victron Orion-Tr Smart 48/48-8A is an isolated DC-DC charger designed for 48V dual-battery systems where controlled charging is needed between the source battery and a separate service bank. Even when both sides share the same nominal voltage, an isolated charger can compensate for voltage loss and provide a proper charging profile instead of relying on the service battery to follow source-system voltage directly.

Victron’s adaptive three-stage charging algorithm uses bulk, absorption, and float stages and can be configured for lead-acid or lithium battery systems. Built-in Bluetooth allows monitoring, configuration, alarm review, and firmware updates through the VictronConnect app. The charger can also be programmed for fixed-voltage output when used as a stabilized DC power supply.

Engine-running detection helps prevent the source battery from being drained after the engine or charging source shuts down. A remote on/off terminal supports control through an external switch or relay, and additional Orion-Tr Smart chargers can be paralleled if more output is required. Short-circuit protection and high-temperature output reduction support dependable operation in demanding mobile and marine installations.
