Victron Orion-TR Smart 30A Isolated DC-DC Converter

Description

The Victron Orion-TR Smart 24/12-30A Isolated DC-DC Converter can operate either as a 30A DC-DC battery charger or as a regulated 12V power supply from a 24V source. It is especially useful in boats, RVs, and commercial vehicles where smart alternators, long cable runs, or variable source voltage make direct charging of a service battery unreliable.

As a charger, the Orion-TR Smart provides a programmable three-stage Bulk, Absorption, and Float algorithm. Absorption time adapts for lead-acid batteries, staying shorter after shallow discharges and increasing after deeper discharges to help restore the battery fully. Lithium charging uses a fixed absorption period, while a fixed-output-voltage mode can be selected when the unit is being used as a power supply rather than a charger.

Built-in engine-running detection makes the converter suitable for Euro 5 and Euro 6 vehicles with smart alternators. When the engine stops, the Orion can stop conversion to help prevent the service battery from discharging the starter battery. A remote on/off input provides additional control from a switch, relay, or compatible system signal.

Bluetooth allows monitoring, configuration, and firmware updates through the VictronConnect app. Instant Readout can show key operating information, warnings, and alarms from the device list without requiring a full connection session. The converter is short-circuit protected, and multiple units can be paralleled when more output current is required.

The 24/12-30 model accepts 20-35V input, provides adjustable output from 10-15V, delivers 30A continuously at 40°C, and can provide up to 45A for short periods. Continuous output is approximately 430W at 25°C and 360W at 40°C. Thermal protection reduces current at high ambient temperature, and IP43 protection applies when the screw terminals are oriented downward.
