Description

The Victron Orion-Tr Smart non-isolated DC-DC charger is designed for dual-battery systems where a 24V alternator or starter battery is used to charge a separate 24V service battery. Built-in Bluetooth gives the user access to live operating data, charger settings, warnings, alarms, and firmware updates through the VictronConnect app.

The adaptive three-stage algorithm uses bulk, absorption, and float charging and adjusts absorption time according to how deeply a lead-acid battery has been discharged. Lithium batteries use a fixed absorption period, and the unit can alternatively be configured for a fixed DC output when it is being used as a power supply. Engine-running detection supports compatibility with smart alternator systems and helps prevent unwanted starter-battery discharge after the engine is shut down.

A remote on/off input allows external control through a switch or relay. Multiple Orion-Tr Smart units can be connected in parallel when greater charging capacity is required. The charger is short-circuit protected and reduces output at high ambient temperatures rather than shutting down abruptly. When installed with the screw terminals facing downward, the electronics achieve IP43 protection, while the connection area is rated IP22.
