Description
The Victron Lynx Smart BMS 1000 is a high-capacity battery-management system built specifically for Victron Lithium Battery Smart LiFePO4 batteries. It supports 12V, 24V, and 48V battery systems and can manage as many as 20 batteries connected in series, parallel, or series/parallel configurations. As part of the modular Lynx electrical architecture, it combines battery protection, current monitoring, high-current switching, communications, and system control in one M10 busbar-based assembly.
A built-in 1000A main contactor serves as a secondary safety device if normal allow-to-charge, allow-to-discharge, or DVCC controls fail to disable loads or chargers when required. The contactor is rated for 1000A continuous current and 1200A for five minutes and can also function as a remotely controlled main system switch. A built-in pre-charge circuit limits inrush current when connecting capacitive loads such as MultiPlus, Quattro, and other inverter/chargers, eliminating the need for a separate pre-charge device in many installations.
The integrated battery monitor provides real-time state of charge, voltage, current, historical information, system status, and diagnostic data. Bluetooth connectivity works with the VictronConnect app, while VE.Can communication allows integration with GX devices such as the Cerbo GX and the VRM Portal. Through a connected GX device and DVCC, compatible Victron inverter/chargers and solar charge controllers can be controlled automatically. Separate ATC and ATD contacts can manage third-party chargers and loads that provide remote on/off inputs.
A programmable relay can operate as an alarm relay or control an alternator through an external regulator. In Alternator ATC mode, the alternator control opens before the main contactor, providing a two-second delay so alternator output is shut down before the battery is disconnected. An auxiliary output supplies up to 1.1A at system voltage to keep selected loads such as a GX device powered after a low-cell-voltage shutdown; if no charge voltage appears within five minutes, the BMS and AUX output shut down.
VE.Can uses standard RJ45 cabling and is based on CAN communication compatible with marine network integration. With the proper VE.Can-to-NMEA 2000 adapter, system data can be made available to a marine MFD. The BMS can also monitor fuse status on as many as four connected Lynx Distributor modules and generate an alarm if a fuse opens.
Electrical specifications include a 9-60V DC battery range, 75V maximum input, M10 busbar connections, 1.1A protected AUX output, 0.5A allow-to-charge and allow-to-discharge ports, and a 2A at 60V DC SPDT alarm relay. The ABS enclosure is IP22 rated and designed for operation from -40°C to +60°C. For large Victron Lithium Smart systems that require centralized protection, high-current switching, monitoring, network communication, and Lynx integration, the Lynx Smart BMS 1000 provides a comprehensive system-management core.
