Description
The Victron Cyrix-Li-ct 230A is a microprocessor-controlled battery combiner designed to connect a lead-acid starter battery and a LiFePO4 service battery when charging conditions are appropriate, then separate them when charging stops or the lithium battery-management system requests disconnection. It provides an efficient alternative to diode isolators because the heavy-duty relay introduces virtually no charging-voltage loss.
The combiner closes when the VE.Bus BMS charge-disconnect output is active and the voltage at either power terminal reaches approximately 13.4V on a 12V system or 26.8V on a 24V system. Once connected, the starter and lithium banks can share available charging current. The relay opens when the control output becomes inactive because of a lithium cell over-voltage or over-temperature event, or when battery voltage falls below approximately 13.2V.
A start-assist function can temporarily close the relay for 30 seconds when triggered by a short negative pulse, providing another way to combine the banks when additional starting support is needed. A built-in transient-voltage suppressor helps clamp the voltage spike that can occur when the relay opens abruptly during a battery-protection event.
For mixed lead-acid and LiFePO4 systems that need automatic combining, BMS-controlled separation, minimal voltage loss, and 230A current capacity, the Cyrix-Li-ct provides a purpose-built intelligent battery-combining solution. There is more in our battery switches & isolators.
