Description

The Victron Centaur 24V 30A charger is a three-bank marine charging system built for reliable operation in demanding environments. Its aluminum epoxy-powder-coated housing, drip shield, stainless steel fasteners, and acrylic-coated circuit boards help protect the electronics from heat, humidity, salt air, and corrosion.

The charger accepts a broad range of incoming AC power without manual adjustment and can also operate from a suitable high-voltage DC source. Three isolated charging outputs allow separate battery banks to be maintained simultaneously, with each output capable of delivering the charger’s full rated current as needed. This makes the Centaur useful on boats with separate starting, house, and auxiliary battery banks.

Victron uses an automatic three-stage charging process with temperature compensation. Charging begins at bulk rate, enters a timed absorption phase after current falls to the appropriate level, and then transitions to float maintenance. An internal temperature sensor adjusts charging voltage as conditions change, and thermal protection can automatically reduce output under extreme temperatures.
