Description

The Victron BatteryProtect BP-220 disconnects nonessential loads before a 12V or 24V battery bank is excessively discharged or loses the reserve needed to start an engine. Its 220A current capacity makes it suitable for larger DC load groups where simple low-current battery protectors would be undersized.

The unit automatically detects 12V or 24V system voltage and can be programmed to engage and disengage at several selectable voltage levels. A seven-segment display shows the selected setting, making configuration straightforward without requiring a separate programming device.

A dedicated lithium mode allows the BatteryProtect to be controlled by a compatible VE.Bus BMS. It can also serve as a charge interrupter in supported lithium charging arrangements. MOSFET switching eliminates mechanical relay contacts and the associated sparking, while low operating consumption helps minimize drain after a low-voltage shutdown.

Over-voltage protection disconnects the load if voltage rises above the supported threshold. A delayed alarm output waits before activating so brief starting-voltage dips do not create nuisance warnings. If low voltage continues, the load disconnects after 90 seconds, while reconnection is delayed until the battery has recovered above the programmed threshold.

For high-current 12V or 24V systems that need automatic low-voltage protection, lithium compatibility, delayed alarm behavior, and spark-free solid-state switching, the BatteryProtect BP-220 provides a robust 220A solution. There is more in our battery switches & isolators.
