Description

The Samlex SEC-series charger is a versatile marine and backup-power charging platform that can operate as an automatic battery charger, regulated DC power supply, or part of a DC UPS system. Its switch-mode design improves efficiency while keeping the unit lighter and quieter than many traditional transformer-based chargers, making it practical for boats, recreational vehicles, communications equipment, and battery backup installations.

The charging algorithm can be switched between three-stage operation for normal stand-alone battery charging and two-stage operation when the batteries remain connected to an active DC load. A selectable Half Power Mode reduces maximum charging current for smaller-capacity batteries, while the front-panel voltmeter and ammeter provide a direct view of system performance. The charger can service two separate battery banks at the same time without requiring an external battery isolator, and the included temperature sensor helps compensate charging behavior when battery temperature changes significantly. Samlex also supports the optional 900-RC remote control for installations where charger status or control needs to be located away from the unit itself. A two-year limited warranty is included, and the charger is suited to marine, automotive, RV, communications, and battery-backup systems.

Protection includes short-circuit, overload, reverse battery connection, and over-temperature safeguards. Fan speed is controlled according to output demand, helping reduce unnecessary noise during lighter charging conditions.
