The Roper Pit Viper Stockman carries 1065 carbon steel clip and spey blades in a bone handle with nickel silver bolsters and an inlay shield, closing to 3.5 inches.

The clip blade takes general cutting while the spey, with its flat edge and blunted tip, handles skinning and scraping without puncturing what lies beneath, the pairing that made the stockman a working stock knife. 1065 is a plain carbon steel rather than stainless. It takes a keener edge and comes back faster on a stone, at the cost of a patina that develops with use and wants the blade kept dry.
