Description

The Newmar 115-12-8 is a rugged linear AC-to-DC power supply designed to provide clean 12V power for communication and navigation electronics aboard commercial and work vessels. Its proven linear design emphasizes low electrical noise and long service life, making it well suited to radios, navigation equipment, and other electronics that can be sensitive to switching noise.

The supply accepts selectable 115V or 230V AC input at 50/60Hz and provides a nominal 13.6V DC output that can be internally adjusted from approximately 12.6V to 14.5V. Output capacity is 8A intermittently and 5A continuously. Regulation is maintained within 1% under rated line and load conditions, with ripple limited to approximately 40mV peak-to-peak.

Protection includes over-voltage, current limiting, thermal overload, and input/output fusing. Large heat-sink fins remove semiconductor heat, while the conformally coated circuit board, heavy-duty aluminum enclosure, and integral shock mounts help the unit tolerate demanding marine environments.

The standard unit is designed for continuous operation when used within its continuous-duty rating, and the output can be modified for battery-charging applications when properly configured.
