Description

The Condor Makara carries an 18-inch satin 1075 carbon steel blade with an extended tang, set in a walnut handle, with a brown leather sheath. Made in El Salvador.

Walnut on a machete is unusual, since most blades this size get molded plastic and walnut is heavier, needs occasional oiling and costs more, but it dampens vibration better than synthetic and warms to the hand rather than staying slick. 1075 carbon steel is tough rather than hard, so it takes repeated impact without chipping and sharpens back with a file. At 18 inches the blade carries real speed at the tip, which is what severs green growth in a single pass. The leather sheath suits the walnut, though both want drying after wet work.

An extended tang runs the steel back through the grip, and a lanyard hole lets the machete hang from a wrist cord so a missed swing does not send it flying.
