The Cold Steel Bird and Trout is a compact fixed blade, a 2.25-inch bead-blasted AUS-8A stainless blade at 6.375 inches overall, with a black Secure-Ex neck sheath. Made in Japan.

Bird and trout knives are built for detail work rather than force. The short, narrow blade gets into a bird’s cavity or a trout’s belly without tearing, a job where a broad hunting blade does more harm than good. AUS-8A is a Japanese stainless that takes a keen edge easily and resists rust well, a sensible pairing with a knife used on wet game and then wiped down in the field.

Secure-Ex is Cold Steel’s molded thermoplastic, holding the blade with a positive snap and shedding water, and the neck sheath keeps the knife hanging ready rather than buried in a pack.
