The Browning Trailside pairs a 3-inch D2 blade with a green Micarta handle and a liner lock, closing to 4 inches, opened by thumb stud.

D2 is a semi-stainless tool steel carrying high carbon for edge retention and enough chromium to resist most corrosion. It holds a working edge considerably longer than the stainless usually fitted at this price, and wants drying after wet use. Micarta is fabric layered in resin, and its useful quality is that grip improves as hands get damp, the opposite of polished wood or smooth plastic. It also wears in over years rather than wearing out.

Green rather than the usual black or tan suits the outdoor framing, and at 4 inches closed the knife stays pocketable.
