Description

The Blue Sea 9012 L-Series Solenoid Switch allows a low-current remote control switch to operate a much higher-current 12V or 24V DC circuit. Its normally open contact design is well suited to battery, charging, inverter, and other heavy DC applications where the main current path should remain close to the battery while control is placed at a convenient helm or panel location.

Hermetically sealed contacts make the switch vaporproof, and ignition-protected construction allows installation aboard gasoline-powered boats when mounted correctly. Integrated coil control reduces operating heat and current draw. The control circuit uses tinned 20 AWG wire, and the solenoid requires only a short high-current pulse when changing state before dropping to a very low holding current.

Current capacity varies with cable size, allowing the switch to support substantially higher continuous current when larger conductors are used. It also carries strong intermittent, cranking, and inrush ratings for demanding starting and motor loads. Blue Sea rates the switching mechanism for up to one million cycles. For remote control of a high-amperage DC circuit, the 9012 combines sealed construction, low control draw, and heavy-current capability in one marine solenoid.
