Blue Sea 8255 Digital Meter Shunt – 500A/50mV

Description

The Blue Sea 8255 Digital Meter Shunt provides the precision signal required for compatible DC ammeters to measure current in circuits carrying as much as 500A. The shunt is rated 500A at 50mV and is designed for use in marine battery, charging, and high-current distribution monitoring systems.

The heavy circuit current passes through the shunt rather than through the display instrument. As current flows, the shunt develops a small proportional voltage that the connected digital meter interprets as amperage. This allows the meter to be installed at a convenient helm or panel location while the shunt remains close to the battery or current path.

Blue Sea recommends that shunts in continuous service not normally be operated above about two-thirds of their rated current, providing useful operating margin for long-term monitoring.
