The Blue Sea Systems 7038 is the 40 amp entry in the 187-Series panel mount range, the smallest of the group and suited to circuits that need more than a branch breaker but nowhere near main protection. Voltage rating is 48 volts DC.

Interrupt capacity is 5,000 amperes at 12 volts DC, 3,000 at 24 volts and 1,500 at 42 volts, with a thermally responsive bi-metal blade doing the work. It is a Type III class breaker, switchable with manual reset and trip free.

The round self-trimming case installs with a standard hole saw and needs no separate mounting panel or bezel. Recessed mounting holes keep the finished face clean, 5/16 terminal studs take heavy gauge wire lugs, and the large lever reports trip status by orientation.
