BEP Marine 500A Emergency Parallel Switch

Description

The BEP Marine 500A Emergency Parallel Switch is a motorized high-current battery switch designed to provide temporary emergency starting support from a second battery bank. A momentary dash-mounted control remotely parallels the banks for ten minutes, allowing additional starting current to be brought online without requiring the operator to access the battery compartment.

The timed operation is an important safety and battery-management feature. After ten minutes, the switch turns itself off automatically, reducing the risk that a parallel connection will be forgotten and left engaged long enough to flatten a starting battery. The system also includes a manual override for situations where direct local control is required.

BEP builds the switch for harsh marine environments using tinned copper conductors, stainless steel nuts, and high-temperature fiber-reinforced plastics. The unit is ignition protected, supports matched 12V or 24V battery banks, and can be installed as either a recessed or surface-mounted switch. Its high short-duration cranking capacity makes it suitable for emergency starting of larger engines, while the automatic ten-minute disconnect keeps the parallel function focused on temporary use rather than normal battery combining.
