Description

The Balmar SG200 Battery Monitor Kit is an expandable 12-48V DC monitoring system designed to provide a much deeper picture of battery condition than voltage alone. It learns and displays state of charge, state of health, charge and discharge current, estimated time remaining, historical information, faults, and alerts, giving boat owners the information needed to manage energy use and identify battery problems before they become failures.

The SG200 supports lead-acid, lithium iron phosphate, standard AGM, TPPL AGM, carbon-foam AGM, and gel batteries. Balmar combines its SmartGauge battery-learning technology with shunt-based amp-hour counting, allowing the system to self-calibrate and maintain accuracy as the battery bank ages. The system is typically about 97% accurate within two cycles and is designed to maintain accuracy as the batteries age.

The included color display is sunlight readable, configurable, dimmable, and provides a 60-degree viewing angle. It fits a standard 2-1/16-inch gauge opening, making it easier to integrate into an existing helm or electrical panel. The kit also includes a shunt for measuring current and a 10-meter cable for flexible installation between the monitored bank and display location.

The SmartLink architecture can be expanded with additional displays or shunts, allowing multiple battery banks to be monitored from multiple locations. The system also provides standard voltage-only monitoring for two starting batteries. A simple point-to-point network connects the components.

An optional Bluetooth gateway can add smartphone access through Balmar’s iOS and Android apps, allowing users to view battery parameters from a phone and download product updates. For vessels with large house banks, multiple charging sources, or mixed battery systems, the SG200 provides detailed, expandable monitoring that goes far beyond a conventional voltmeter or basic amp-hour counter.
