Description

The Balmar XT Series 170A Saddle Mount Alternator provides a high-output 12V charging upgrade for marine engines using a 3.15-inch dual-foot Hitachi-style mounting pattern. It is equipped with a J10 AltMount serpentine pulley and case grounding, making it a strong choice for vessels that already have compatible external regulation and want to increase charging capacity for a larger battery bank.

The 170-amp output is intended for demanding onboard electrical systems where refrigeration, inverters, electronics, lighting, pumps, and other house loads can quickly consume battery capacity. A J10 multi-groove serpentine drive can transfer considerably more alternator load than a conventional single-V belt when the engine pulley system is configured to match.

The mounting arrangement is typical for Yanmar, Westerbeke, Lehman, and Perkins-Sabre engines. Because bracket dimensions, pulley alignment, belt length, and regulator compatibility are critical on high-output alternator installations, the existing charging system should be verified before installation.
