ARCO Zeus A275L Transit Alternator with Terminal Block

Description

The ARCO Zeus A275L Transit Alternator with Terminal Block is a high-output 12V charging platform designed to replace the alternator on Ford Transit 3.5L and 3.7L gasoline engines from 2015-2022. It is intended for marine conversions, RVs, commercial vehicles, military applications, and other high-energy systems where large battery banks and accessory loads can otherwise require a separate generator.

The A275L is engineered to create substantial power directly from the engine, including at idle. Heat-shedding coatings, an externally located rectifier, dual cooling fans, and OEM components help control operating temperature so the alternator can sustain higher amperage for longer periods. E-Coat or Cerakote finishes absorb less heat, supporting output during long charging sessions.

This large-frame alternator uses a 138mm stator, 16-pole P-type field, and a default output voltage of 14.1V. ARCO lists the model family as available with either internal/external regulation or external-only regulation. For maximum performance or lithium battery charging, ARCO recommends the Zeus Bluetooth Alternator Regulator.

Published output is up to 311A cold at 9,000 alternator RPM, 227A sustained hot at 6,000 RPM, and 198A sustained hot at 3,000 RPM. Cut-in speed is 1,061 RPM, maximum alternator speed is 19,000 RPM, and maximum continuous operating temperature is 110°C.

The alternator uses an M8 side-mount battery post, 49K6 six-groove 49mm pulley, 17mm shaft threaded M17 x 1.5, included pulley nut and washer, and six positive plus six negative 50A avalanche-rated diodes. ARCO specifically notes that Mercedes Sprinter secondary-alternator applications require a clutch pulley and should use the N62 clutch-pulley model instead.
