Description

The ARCO Zeus Alternator Shield 48V is designed to protect high-output alternators from destructive voltage spikes caused by sudden battery disconnects and load-dump events. These events are a particular concern in modern lithium systems, where a battery-management system can abruptly disconnect the battery to protect the cells. An accidental battery-switch interruption can create a similar condition.

When the battery is suddenly removed while the alternator is producing substantial current, system voltage can rise sharply enough to damage alternator diodes and other internal components. The Zeus Alternator Shield clamps the excess voltage and safely diverts it to ground, reducing stress on the charging system and helping prevent an expensive alternator failure.

An LED status indicator provides real-time confirmation of shield health, and the unit installs directly at the alternator terminals for a short, effective protection path. The design is intended for today’s high-amperage alternators and lithium battery banks where disconnect events can happen faster than an operator can react.

The 48V Zeus Alternator Shield has been tested to the ISO 16750-2 load-dump standard. ARCO reports up to 75% more survivable disconnect events than the leading competing product under its test conditions.
