ARCO Marine 1000A/50mV Battery Monitor Shunt

Description

The ARCO 1000A/50mV Shunt is a high-current measurement component for battery monitoring and electrical-system instrumentation that reads current through an external shunt. It is designed to handle up to 1000 amps while producing a standardized 50 millivolt signal for the connected monitor or meter.

In a shunt-based monitoring system, the heavy system current passes through the shunt rather than through the display or sensing electronics. The monitor measures the small voltage drop across the calibrated shunt and converts that signal into an amperage reading. This arrangement allows very high charging and discharge currents to be monitored without routing full battery-bank current through the instrument panel.

A 1000A-rated shunt is particularly appropriate for large battery banks, high-output alternators, inverter systems, and other installations where current can exceed the capacity of smaller 100A, 500A, or 600A shunts. The 50mV calibration must match the requirements of the monitoring equipment being used.
