The Airmar DST820 Bluetooth Smart Thru-Hull Sensor is the successor to the DST810, adding PSTI compliance for stronger onboard network security, secured through a QR-code setup that pairs the sensor with a one-time password entered right on a phone.

Inside runs Airmar’s Gen2 paddlewheel, delivering real speed-through-water accuracy, picking up usable data at a crawl under 0.3 knots, tracking linearly from 0.6 knots onward, and holding steady output right up to 45 knots. Airmar’s free CAST app pairs with the DST820 to bring speed calibration, once locked behind costly PC software, right onto a phone or tablet, with both basic and advanced calibration options depending on how deep an owner wants to go. Beyond speed, this sensor also reads depth and water temperature, updating at 5.7 Hz for responsive tracking, and an integrated attitude sensor adds further refinement to the readings.
